The museum databaseThe Martyrs’ Museum in Żabikowo have taken steps to establish and collect an electronic database of names of all the Żabikowo camp prisoners. The electronic database – apart from prisoners’ names and surnames, includes information about their dates and places of birth, camp numbers, pre-war professions, biographical notes, dates of imprisonment, deportations to other camps and the post-war fate of those who survived. We would also like to highlight the fact that the data included in the electronic database result from long-standing research conducted by people working in the Museum. Their abridged version has been published in The Martyrology of the Nazi Camp in Żabikowo 1943-1945 (Martyrologium obozu hitlerowskiego w Żabikowie 1943–1945) (see Publications). Providing information on former prisonersAt the request of former prisoners and their families, the Museum issues official documents confirming the fact of imprisonment in the camp. The Archival Resources of the Martyrs’ Museum in Żabikowo constitute the reference material of the former prison camp. The retained documentation covers the period between June 22, 1944 – January 19, 1945. On this basis, former prisoners and their families can get official documents confirming the fact of their imprisonment. If you want to obtain information about a prisoner, please: • visit the Museum in person from Tuesday to Friday, 8.00 am – 3.00 pm. We do not give such information by phone.• in order to obtain a written document confirming the fact of imprisonment, please print the INVESTIGATION FORM, fill in the data and send it by e-mail or post to the Museum address:

Data concerning the fate of Polish citizens imprisoned in the Żabikowo prison camp during the Nazi occupation, are also available on a web portal: www.straty.pl which was launched as a part of all-Poland project Victims of the Nazi Regime – Database of Polish citizens repressed under the German Occupation. The programme was launched in 2006 by the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. At present, it is coordinated by the Foundation for Polish-German Reconciliation. To contribute to the project, The Museum gave 10 000 records with data concerning Polish citizens detained in the prison camp in Żabikowo during the Nazi occupation (1943 – 1945) and in forced labour camps for Jews in the Reichsgau Wartheland. |
